Ruminations on the Knicks

The same themes come back to haunt these Knicks.

The biggest obstacle we face is whether or not Dolan is restricting trades. If he is it is cruel and all too usual for the fans.

Second, if we can trade then Isiah's opinions need to be shelved. HE IS WAY TOO CLOSE TO THE PROBLEM PLAYERS! I'm sick of repeating this point.

Curry and Crawford need to go because they are movable and are not fulfilling their obligations here.

If Curry isn't moved he cannot play with Randolph. Keep them separate with Curry getting the shorter minutes. Better yet, put him on the inactive squad and have Rose work him into shape.

We cannot afford the lottery scenario. If we get a shitty pick we are screwed for another ten years. We have to build from what we have. It's doable and must be the solution.

Dec 15 is two days away. how to build the team out?

Some thoughts:

Crawford for Nesterovic

Curry to Washington for Etan Thomas and a first-rounder.

OR

Curry and Crawford for Brand,Knight, and a pick

Just move them.

why can't we not afford the lottery scenario? I think it's our best hope. What else is left? No trades now. Never deal from desperation or ineptitude.

We are in exactly the same position we were in with Layden before Isiah came along except we have, for the most part a talented roster, with some adequate youth.

The reason the lottery doesn't help is this.

1.) No guarantee we get a 1-3 pick

2.) No guarantee a 1-3 pick will in fact develop (see Frye at 5ish), Sweetney at 10ish) and scores of other wash-outs.

3.) No matter who coaches, the pressure is to play high-paid, veteran players. What Isiah is doing is working to a degree. Lee, N8, and Balkman are all getting minutes and maturing under heavy fire. These guys are going to be galvanized, money ballplayers after all this.

4.) This is a team that can win with slight modifications.

First - Isiah needs to let go of Curry and Crawford. Enough bullshit with these two. they aren't sons, they're disappointing players would hold value and need to go.

Second, get us a PG. Marbury ain't it. Let him play an aggressive SG. He'll feel better, we'll feel better, and our team will win.

Get me Andre Miller, Steve Blake, or Earl Watson.

Get me a center that jumps, gets a few rebounds and plays 'D' (Rasho for Crawford).

Now you're talking balance.

Miller, Marbury, Chandler, Randolph and Rasho with N8, Q, Balkman, Lee and Jeffries as a second unit.

I think that spells playoffs and maybe some exciting basketball. i can't wait ten years for a lottery team to develop - that's bullshit.

Now, I re-invited you to author so make a new password, join, and start blogging here and tell those other NYTimes jamokes to blog as well. They're all still active here.

Thanks for writing Carlos - always good to hear from you.

Ye Newe Glory-torium

Here, dear readers, is the final resting place of all weary Knicks fans. Yes, here is where one comes when the Triangle refuses to have three sides, when biting one's lip from losing to win later is one loss too far,or when said fan simply hits 'rock' bottom. In short, "the ship be" eternally "sinking" here. Welcome aboard, rearrange the deck chairs as you please.
