Curry Must Go

For the twentieth time this year, please hoops-god, get Curry the hell out of town. For some reason Isiah thinks he "will need him". Bad idea.

Lose this guy. Yes, it will be a massive loss - not of Curry - but what Curry cost us initially.

Are there takers? Sure. Dealing from weakness is never fun but both Miami and Memphis need change as much as New York does. And poisoned as the Knicks are by former Chicago players, Chicago too needs change.

Curry would be a perfect fit in Memphis. Memphis is losing money so fast and is so over-extended that any relief would be welcome there. Memphis has multiple bad contracts who might fit in NY. Curry and Rose for Gasol comes to mind giving Memphis a better liquidity of assets. Is Gasol worth it? Probably not, he's a soft center but on the flip side, so is Curry. Maybe the team chemistry change will help both players.

What about Miami where empty seats blind cameras game after excruciating game? Maybe Marbury would like to close out his career in a warm, sunny place?

And Chicago? Ben Wallace can't do worse here than he's done there. He kinda looks like a Knick from the nineties. That's a clse enough fit for me.

My point is. a.) Get rid of Curry and b.) Get rid of everybody else too.

Quite frankly, I'm ill from this mix.

What makes you say Gasol is a soft center? Last time I checked he has plenty of blocks, and I'm not even sure he's a center. Anyway, the Grizz. are not crazy enough to trade him for Curry and Rose. They can do much better if they actually wanted to get rid of Gasol.

Carlos,

Gasol is yet another PF/C who has never played on a team that has won anything. He's a legit 7' guy so I'm assuming he'd take the place of Curry here.

I don't know what guys like this are truly "worth". Most of what gets traded around is not all that great to begin with.

The reason the Grizz might bite on Curry and Rose is that Rose goes away quick and Curry is an inexpensive center that is hard to come by.

I threw this out as a fer'instance but I'm guessing the Knicks would have to absorb a few other bad contracts along with Gasol which is okay by me.

What I would be looking for is more chemistry and not a superstar expectation. If Gasol gets 5 rebounds per game vs Curry's 1.5, I'd be happy. In Memphis Curry might outplay Gasol's stat line.

My larger point is that as dysfunctional as our roster is, it has more manageable contracts than many teams carry.

Memphis is in a world of financial hurt so trading there is not out of weakness but the strength of Dolan's wallet as well. We don't have to be desperate, Dolan does have money and is sometimes inclined to spend it.

By absorbing a bit more than we send we might be able to acquire some complimentary talent.

let's forget about gasol -assuming he's such a gem - I could live with sending Q, Curry, and Jones out for Darko, Miller, and Cardinal.

Jones comes off the books for them next year. Q takes Miller's spot and Curry teams with Gasol.

On our end, Darko can be no worse than Curry, Miller no worse than Q, and Cardinal is a hustler. Maybe the chemistry changes. In the meanwhile, what do we lose by changing the mix?

Look, I´d love to get Gasol here. I've seen him in international play (Spain vs. Germany) CONSISTENTLY dominating Nowitzky. He's just stuck in an awful team, and he wanted out. So they brought in his friend Navarro. I just don't think the Grizz. would give up on him so cheaply or that he'd accept a trade to another awful team. As for the other trades you propose, I don't see the long term benefit of longer term contracts for more mediocre players.

Carlos,

I would be okay with Gasol as well and I hear you that nobody really knows his trade value.

I'm looking at it strictly as a super-expensive contract. Who can afford it and who is willing to risk the investment?

Lots of teams can throw equally expensive contracts back at the Grizz but the Grizz are trying to save money and get value back. Curry's contract is 3/5s of Gasol. Malik can be traded with a buyout in place that the Knicks contribute to.

As for the other trade, I am not looking for long term benefits to trades. I am looking to eliminate the redundancy and ineffectiveness of the current Knicks squad.

We are lucky to get a rebound out of Eddie. again, I ask... Can Darko do worse? And if he's just twice as effective there is less drama to Randolph's role.

What about Miller. Can he shoot worse than Q? I doubt it.

What about Cardinal? Worse than Malik?

All I'm saying is that we need chemistry trades. Guys that glue what we have together differently and more effectively.

We have sufficient talent otherwise.

Here, dear readers, is the final resting place of all weary Knicks fans. Yes, here is where one comes when the Triangle refuses to have three sides, when biting one's lip from losing to win later is one loss too far,or when said fan simply hits 'rock' bottom. In short, "the ship be" eternally "sinking" here. Welcome aboard, rearrange the deck chairs as you please.
