Larry "Lost the team- sabotage the season-not trying to win-start players by their birthmarks-etc-yada-etc-yada-etc." Brown had a better March and April than Isiah "It's His Fault" Thomas.
No surprise. Larry is a much better coach than Isiah, as was Lenny, Duck, & probably even Herb.

Dolan later made a remark so stunning I had to play back the tape a couple of times. He actually blamed Larry Brown for this season’s 32-49 record.
"We lost a year," Dolan said.
Oh really. No one is saying that Brown’s only year in New York was his finest hour. But think about what Brown did and said last year and see if it sounds familiar:
• Brown told Thomas that they needed to get rid of several high-priced veteran players who were taking up space on the bench. After replacing Brown as head coach, Thomas cut Jalen Rose and Maurice Taylor.
• Brown felt the team needed to shift away from Stephon Marbury being the focal point of the offense and establish Eddy Curry as a low post presence.
• Brown wanted to ship Nate Robinson to the D-League. Go hook Thomas up to a lie detector and ask him for his true feelings about Robinson.
• Brown wasn't convinced that Channing Frye could be a big-time power forward.
• Brown wanted to sign free agent Jared Jeffries.
Again, the Knicks hired Brown with the understanding that he would find the players that could play for him and get rid of those who could not. He was not fired for the record. He was fired for not adhering to the Knicks' media policy. And this notion that Brown's criticism hurt the player's feelings is pure nonsense. Are the players so soft that they couldn't handle a little criticism? If so, it's time to get new players.
I have to admit I feel the same way. I have no problem with Isiah as a VP but he wears too many hats in the organization and it prevents him from making objective evaluations of his players.
This team is popular like lots of young losing clubs are. Fans fall in love with mythic potentials that aren't there. We need some pros for next year.
well you know that's the funny part, FWK, Zeke ending up doing most of the things Larry wanted (just not as well, IMHO)
Revisionism! Are we forgetting the toxic atmosphere last year that LB caused? Everyone hated everyone. This team was headed to the playoffs until everyone started dropping like flies....
I don't know who was hating who but it seemed like Zeke and Marbury undermined LB and Zeke did everything LB suggested more or less.
Balkman was LB's pick. Jeffries was also on LB's short list. Losing Jalen and change - check.
LB played Lee, Frye, Nate, and so on - giving them floor time and weathering loses to get them better. And this year, they were better to the degree that rookies can be. Last year, Curry AND the Knicks had to be careful with Curry who arrived in lousy condition due to the uncertainties. This is LB"s fault? Revisionism? I think not.
Is somebody making the argument that this year's handfull of wins more is a BFD from last year? Absurd.
The LB haters all made a big deal of Isiah's coaching talent yet the record speaks for itself.

I disagree about the playing time...Lee, Frye and Nate all had their playing time jerked around.
LB's ideas were implemented cause they were good. But he lost his mind last year. He was a terrible coach. The players did NOT improve over the course of the year and they did hate being their. There were numerous depressing, blowout losses. This year, we stayed in most games, especially after Christmas. Most of the losses were close heartbreakers.
I personally wish LB had not lost his mind and had stayed because he is a better coach, in terms of Xs-and-Os than Isiah. His treatment of Ariza was inexcusable. So was his approach to lineups. And his treatment of Lee. And to a lesser extent Frye and Nate. And of course to Steph, who I saw as trying harder than LB to make things work before he gave up. Plus LB's idea of dumping Jalen and Francis is ridiculous in that Zeke only brought them in at the behest of LB.
I loved the LB hiring. By the end of the year, I hated LB, in as much as I can use that word for someone I don't know. And this year's team was a breath of fresh air in that they got along and tried and got better as the season went on until the wheels fell off with three of the top 6 players going down.
Password or no password, I definitely do NOT miss Larry Brown
Isaih had this team playing some decent ball if LB hadn't sabatoged and damaged egos,(let someone keep telling you that you ain't shit and see if you'll give your all) No this team wasn't great but considering the where Isaih started from and how LB damaged trade value this season was a success because this years record was supposed to be last years record. Now we have some trading chips everyone including Francis has trade value whether people wanna give Isaih credit or not it is what it is.

Explain to me please how he "jerked around" Lee. Or at least how it was different from how ExcuseMaster jerked around Balkman and Collins.
Plus the 'INJURY EXCUSE' is pure HORSECRAP. For nearly the entire decline we had the services of our two "FRANCHISE PLAYERS." A dozen other teams this season had far worse injuries and outperformed. Marbury's injuries last year plus Eddy's six layers of extra blubber were a far worse obstacle. LB didn't cry about it. He said I NEED TO COACH BETTER.

I sure hope so cause I tuned in to the Nets and decided I like Mikey Moore a hell of a lot better. Why? After a missed shot he doesn't dawdle there under the basket for about three seconds like "huh, I didn't get the call" but runs his butt back on defense as fast as he can.
I read some Eddy Curry quote the other day about this summer "I know what I have to work on on defense". Seventh year in Pro Ball finally figured it out.
Lord help us. One day a real rain will come and wipe these fake-Knick Chicago boys out of the Garden.
